One of China's least populated regions; Qinghai Province covers an area of 721,000 Km² and is home to a population of around 4.8 million people.
The Province is situated in the West of the Peoples Republic of China and lies between the provinces of Gansu to the east, Xinjiang to the west and north-west, and the Tibetan Autonomous Region (TAR), to the south-west.
The capital, Xining, is located at a latitude of approximately 36°37minutes north, longitude 101° 45 minutes east.
